Do you really need to to wear clothes when your bag has this much swagger?? Naaaa, maybe just a little beauty.
Newest Coach creative, Stuart Vevers has revisited the archives and brought back those signature bags from the 80’s, but in a fun, youthful way. The iconic American brand has had a re-vamp and I am totally converted – you can officially call me a “Coach girl”. The brand my mother and grandmother knew is no more. Its all about the Youth! Pebbled leather cross body bags is where its at.
I shot this story on my most recent trip to New York with two very talented people… Miss Lauren McCowan – Hair and make up genius as well as creative legend Jessie English.
While showcasing Coach’s “Swagger” bag, I thought I would also give some love to my favourite staple beauty looks / products.
Below is some tricks of the trade from my very special friend Lauren Mccowan. My oh my you are too good to be true!
The Lashes: For lashes that open your eyes and frame your face better than a hit of Botox, we used Chanel Inimitable intense mascara and built it up over the lashes over 3 applications. We then attached Lady Caviar Dual Lashes by Lash Republic and added a final swipe of Ecriture de Chanel– an effortless eyeliner pen that works like a sharpie. Have fun drawing on your face while looking like a vixen.
The Brows: If you are a true blonde, you will feel my struggle! To strengthen that brow we used Le Sourcil de Chanel brow kit. All-in-one kit features three shades, two applicators and tweezers in a single mirrored compact. Provides the ultimate look in brow definition and colour. Three brow shades customise colour to obtain desired shade. Highly concentrated mineral pigment in powders provides long wear. The combination of the three shades allow you to create your perfect match without looking like you’ve tattooed your brows on. Secret tip- use a disposable mascara wand to brush your eyebrows after you have filled them in to distribute the product and give a natural, groomed finish to the face.
The Locks: To create that incredible tousled look with maximum volume but a no product feel to that hair we wet the hair down with evo’s Root Canal– a base support spray that will leave your hair feeling light as air while providing amazing hold and shine. We dried the hair upside down with a paddle brush and then used one of evo’s brand new, FSC certified round brush to polish the ends- Our brush was called Hank. We then used evo Builder’s paradise working spray to set the shape. A water soluble, durable hairspray that has amazing hold but is completely brush-able- so you never get that overworked, crunchy look to your shape.
The Lips: On the lips for Fall we did a deep burgundy lip to bring out the tones of the bag and contrast with Nadias eyes and hair. MAC Satin lipstick in Media was our preferred shade to give a hint of film noir but we kept the skin very dewy and clean so as not to look too overdone. We lined the outside of the lips with a transparent liner to create a seal so the lipstick wouldn’t bleed and then lined the lips with a deep burgundy liner, before applying the lipstick.
Over the next few months I will be having a whole heap of fun with Coach and showing you my top picks from their most current collections. Stay Tuned.
